Genomics Core Laboratory
Fees and Policies
DNA Sequencing Pricing
Cost for sequencing services
is currently $15.00 per reaction. This includes reaction with Big Dye 3.1,
purification, array run and electronic results report. Pre-reacted and
purified samples will be run for $5.00 per sample. Purification can be
done for $50.00 per plate. All pre-reacted samples must be in an ABI
3730XL compatible 96-well plate and accompanied by an electronic sample
sheet, (
DNA sample sheet) otherwise additional charges will be added. Special
pricing considerations can be made for large volumes. Off-campus customers
must provide a PO# or a credit card # for samples to be processed
Sequencing arrays
will be routinely run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, regardless of sample
number. If the sample number warrants, arrays will be run on the other days
as needed. A full array accommodates 96 samples. Results will be sent out as
soon as the array is run. Cut-off time for samples submission is 3:00
pm the day before the array is run. If you wish for your sample to be run on
Tuesday’s gel, it must be in the lab (along with primer) before 3:00 pm on
Monday. If you need results sooner, you may request that an array be run on
an off day for $200.00 plus the reaction cost. However, in the event that
the number of samples reaches a level that would make it necessary to run an
array, this fee will be waived. Repeats will be done at the request of the
user only, unless our internal controls indicated otherwise. Repeats
will be subject to full charge.
Please
fill in all areas of the DNA
Sequencing Request Form.
Turn-around time
depends on sample numbers, but should not be more than two business days.
Current turn-around-time averages 24 hours, but should be no longer than
72 hours.
Affymetrix Gene Array
Pricing
Gene array
pricing is relatively complex so as to offer flexibility in the
investigator’s ability to participate in the operation at whatever level
they may choose. An investigator may choose to do part of the experiment
to lower the cost, or may choose to have the GCL do the entire array to
increase the chance for success. As a result of this, we have created a checklist
form. This form is meant as a guideline for determining pricing and
may not reflect true pricing. The GCL will help you determine the exact
cost of an experiment before sample submission if needed. There is also a Gene
Chip Request Form that must be filled out completely and accompany any
samples submitted.
The GCL does
over 500 chips per year. This number determines the level of discount that
we get on chips. Any discount we get on chips will be reflected in the
price we charge for the chip. Charges for the chip include all expenses
for the purchase of the chip. The GCL will purchase the chips and then
bill for the chips accordingly. We
will not accept chips from the customer for complete experiments
(experiments including RNA labeling, and hybridization). We will
accept chips and labeled probes for hybridization, but it will be
difficult for us to offer any support if a problem occurs. Basic results
will be given in a spreadsheet format. If second party (GeneSpring)
analysis is ordered, the format must be discussed. Turn-around time is
about eight business days depending on backlog.
