Inflammation Core Laboratory

The Inflammation Core Laboratory is located in EF-217 and offers standardized analyses of inflammatory factors in biological samples collected from human research subjects and lab animals to investigators in basic science and clinical research. Services offered include complement, cytokines, soluble cytokine receptors, soluble adhesion molecules, clotting factors, leukocyte activation markers and acute phase proteins. Hormones affecting inflammatory mediators will also be assayed. For a complete list, see link to prices. Analyses will be performed using antibody-based systems such as ELISA and immunohistochemistry as well as functional assays.

The core facility is committed to lower research costs by providing services at economical rates, to support education by training students and technicians in assay design and implementation and, to serve the community by developing/optimizing non-invasive sampling techniques.

The core is directed by Dr. Joseph Cannon and daily operations and maintenance are conducted by Gloria Sloan.

User Consultations
Investigators are encouraged to consult with the director and staff to address technical questions.

User Training
Students and technicians will be trained in the fundamentals of setting up new ELISAs using separately sourced reagents. They can then conduct their analyses in the core facility using core instrumentation.

Hours of Operation
The Inflammation Core will be available for use Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and will follow the MCG calendar for holidays. Technical assistance will be limited during scheduled vacation time, in case of illness or other emergencies.
