Flow Cytometry Core Laboratory
Instrumentation

Three- and four-color Becton Dickinson FACS Calibur flow cytometers are available for biological cell analysis. These instruments collect information on light scatter (indicating approximate cell size and complexity of interior cell structure) and up to three or four colors of fluorescence emission. These machines can be operated a rates of up to several thousand cells per second. We also have 2 cell sorters, one, the MoFlo, that can perform 5+ color analysis (for more information of multicolor analysis see User Guidelines).
