A little bit of something for everyone. Dr. Andy Sonis will present timely information relevant for the private practitioner as it relates to new products, technologies, and therapeutic, drawing from his background and experience in pediatric dentistry, oral pathology, medicine, orthodontics and education, Dr. Scott DeRossi will present strategies for diagnosis and management of oral medicine for the pediatric patient, drawing on his extensive background on all aspects of oral medicine. |
PURPOSE
This continuing education course is designed to update dentists and auxiliaries
on diagnostic and treatment techniques, trends and practices in pediatric
dentistry, emphasizing pediatric oral medicine.
OBJECTIVES

and Management Dr. Scott DeRossi A large number of diseases seen in children involve the oral mucosa. Many of these disorders are limited to the oral cavity; however, some are dermatologic or systemic conditions in which oral lesions are one of a constellation of findings. A strong knowledge of these diseases can be essential to an accurate diagnosis, particularly when oral involvement is the presenting feature. |

GUEST FACULTY
Andy Sonis. D. M. D., is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He received his pediatric dental training at Children’s Hospital, Boston, and Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, his orthodontic training at Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry, and his oral medicine training at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He is board certified in oral medicine, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. He currently holds the rank of Clinical Professor in the Department of Developmental Biology at Harvard and is Senior Associate in the Department of Dentistry at Children’s Hospital, Boston. He is a partner in a group dental practice in Newton, Massachusetts.
MCG FACULTY
Steven M. Adair, D.D.S., M.S., Course Director, received his
dental degree from the University of North Carolina, and
his master’s degree and certificate in pediatric dentistry
from the University of Iowa. He is professor and former
chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at MCG.
Dr. Adair has served as the editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, was editor of Pediatric Dentistry.
He is a diplomate of the
American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American
College of Dentists. He has served on the Commission for Dental
Accreditation, the National Board Test Construction Committee and as aa consultant to
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Air Force and FORBA Dental Management, LLC.
Scott DeRossi, D.M.D., MCG Associate Professor of Oral Medicine and Chair of Oral Health and Diagnostic Sciences, received his dental degree and postdoctoral training in oral medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. DeRossi, who has had an oral medicine practice for over 11 years, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. He received an Earl Bank Hoyt Teaching Award from the University of Pennsylvania, where he held a faculty position before joining MCG. He co-authored a Burket’s Oral Medicine textbook and lectures and publishes extensively on all aspects of oral medicine.
